From the blurb (Goodreads)

When tragedy strikes, Zoe Anderson finds herself in the one role she never expected to have: mother. Sharing guardianship of four-year-old twins with sexy Rafe Kirkland is a responsibility she simply cannot accept. Rafe is just going to have to take care of the boys himself.
Rafe's not prepared to be a single parent either, but deserting the children is not an option—and he's never been as attracted to a woman as he is to their godmother. He proposes a solution: Zoe and the boys will move in with him, at least until other arrangements can be made. Or until he can convince her to make their temporary family permanent.
Zoe reluctantly agrees to the plan, but even after she loses her heart to the twins, she can't possibly take that emotional risk with Rafe…

Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars

** spoiler alert **

After receiving news that their best friends have died in a tragic accident, God-parents Zoe Anderson and Rafe Kirkland have been entrusted to be the Guardians to their 4 year old twin boys, Aaron and Parker.

Rafe, a Seismologist and Zoe an Oceanographer feel they can’t devote themselves to looking after the children full-time, both for differing reasons but both agreeing they don’t want the responsibility it would take to care for the boys. So they make an agreement to spend 3 weeks in each of their home towns to forge a plan of who should care for the twins.

Zoe is unable to bear children so in order to protect her heart she avoids closeness and emotional attachment at all costs; she feels less of a women not being able to give a man a child so spends a lot of time trying to convince Rafe he is the perfect father and should be the sole parent. He was truly wonderful with the twins and had also fallen for Zoe in a big way and was just as determined to prove that the children also needed her in their lives

Zoe and Rafe were both likeable characters, they were thrown into a circumstance beyond their control and made it work for all of them, I respected the decisions they made and the challenges and changes they had to adapt to accommodate the children. I also enjoyed the slow-build up to their relationship, they were wonderful together.

I absolutely loved the antics of the twins! I was laughing out loud at times and completely understood the predicament both Zoe and Rafe were in when it came to discipline and their conflicting beliefs. What they had to endure initially is hard for any parent let alone a couple who had no experience whatsoever with children – the never ending questions, the naughty behavior, illness and of course helping to cope with their loss and grief.
I loved their nickname for Zoe - Snookums, they were very sweet.

I enjoyed Ms. Greene’s writing style, she has a wonderful way with words and I am looking forward to reading more books written by this author.

Tender Loving Care is an enjoyable fast paced read which was both tender and touching.

  1. This sounds like a familiar Mills & Boon story line :D

Glad to know the writing style is fun, and it sounds refreshing.
