REVIEW: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Serena St. Clair, a fledgling angel and yoga teacher has been given the assignment of watching over a Hollywood “It Boy”, being new to the guardian angel business she takes her role seriously, until she stumbles into Devil’s Paradise nightclub and its owner, who ignites feelings in her she hasn’t felt before.

The most powerful demonic entity in Los Angeles is Julian Ascher, his human life ended disastrously and he has vowed never to trust a woman again; that is until he meets the beautiful Serena. He blindsides her into accompanying him on a trip to Las Vegas to view his new club, not really giving her a chance and using her weaknesses against her.

Julian has performed some horrific acts as a demon and has progressed to the role of arch demon at an astoundingly fast rate, there are others who fear him as well as those who want to curse him to hell forever, especially Corbin who is more powerful than him as well as his business partner and his ex Luciana who is a true she-demon, she portrayed nastiness to perfection.

Serena recognized the goodness in Julian and was often baffled by the information and guidance she was receiving from her superiors, she didn’t realize there was a greater mission for her within the one she had received; something of more importance in order for her to succeed, it is a job that could banish her soul to hell if she failed.

Serena and Julian are perfect for each other despite their differences and their love went above and beyond any obstacle, she bought out some deep and hidden emotion in him. They are willing to make sacrifices for one another which was sweet to read about. They are also sexy as hell together, with great chemistry.

This is not a new paranormal romance plotline, it is predictable but I love what Chong did with it. I enjoyed her writing style, the world building was wonderful, the characters were developed well, it had a fascinating storyline and some riveting action.

An enjoyable debut novel about love and redemption, I am looking forward to reading her next book ‘The Demoness of Waking Dreams’.
