I am so pleased to be able to welcome author Sara Trimble to Obsession with Books for an interview about her new Paranormal Romance novel, Heart Over Mind

INTERVIEW:

Welcome to Obsession with Books Sara, Are you able to tell us a little about your book Heart Over Mind and yourself?

I'm twenty-six and just got married Oct 22. I have five children and I've been writing since I was six. When I'm asked, how did you create a world and secret society of the Vardo, which is featured in my new paranormal romance Heart Over Mind, I answer the same way. I can't remember! It just came to me and once I started dreaming it up, it didn't stop. In HOM, there's an alpha male married to his job as a magickal bodyguard. His new case is one of utmost importance. Nala Apraia is the daughter of the main boss, Elam Korbin, and she's the most powerful woman in the world.

She is being hunted by a man determined to steal her powers so he can have world domination. Nala is taken to the Vardo where she begins to learn how to control her powers in the hope that she can destroy Broncestan before he can kill her. The problem is, she wants to experience everything life has to offer, including one sexy Graida, magical bodyguard, who's determined not to give in to the explosive attraction.

When and why did you begin writing?

I can't remember a time I didn't write. I never considered being published a reality, just a very ambitious dream. However, when I was eighteen, I got pregnant with my first son. I went into pre-term labor at six months and was hospitalized. They refused to discharge me into I learned how to relax, since stress was the reason for my pre-term labor. I started to write about a fictional town and a distressed mom who moves back to this town with her teenage daughter. I have yet to publish this novel because it was so horribly written and it would take forever to revise. But I do plan to make it into a mother/daughter special one day.

Where did the inspiration for your book Heart Over Mind come from?

Ha! If only I remembered. At the time that I began writing HOM, I remember I was researching Gypsies and thought how much fun it would be to write a story about them. Only I didn't want the entire story to be in the past because I was scared I would be inaccurate and mess the whole book up. So, I used portions of the Gypsy time and then interlaced it with a modern day adventure. A lot of different books, shows, and events helped me evolve this story into the work it is now.

What is your ideal day as an author?

I'm a mom first, which means I start out with getting my children ready for school and then dropping them off. I come home, take a nap with my sixteen month old, then get up and get him ready for the day. I get on the computer, check and answer emails, check Facebook(I might be a junkie, haven't decided yet), then go back and read what I'd written the night before. I post a blog, update Twitter, and sign up for new events. I advertise and promote my newest release, Heart Over Mind, and work on a blog post that's due later, do edits on my current WIP, A Woman's Revenge, fix lunch, read a little bit for one of my review groups, and then, I finally start writing. For some reason, my Muse doesn't really kick in good until late at night when things are winding down and I'm ready to go to bed. But I try to write throughout the day, even if it's just a blog post, review, or newsletter.

Do you mind telling us how long it took for you to write Heart Over Mind ?

AHH! A trick question. The first version took me seven months to write, but then I learned so many things that I had to go back and rewrite a lot of it, eliminate a bunch of stuff, then I put it aside for over a year. In all, I think it was about three years to finish.

Are you able to describe what your writing process is like?

I have a particular playlist I like to listen to when working. So, I put Barney on the Xbox, plug in my headphones and start the music. Then I go back, read a bit of what I wrote the night before, and start writing. I'm not the type of person who can write when it's quiet. I strive off of chaos. I guess it's part of being a mom of 5. Once I get into writing, I try to keep at it until I get to my set word count, which is usually at least one thousand words for my novel and three hundred words for a blog post. If I'm struggling to get the mojo to work, I light a scented candle, pick a few key words and start writing, incorporating those words into the story.

Are there any books or authors that have most influenced you?

I love to read erotica so I've started trying to write this. Paige Tyler, Desiree Holt, and Cerise DeLand have become influential to me, as well as authors such as Lindsay McKenna and Caridad Pinerio.

Is there are book you are reading at the moment? And do you tend to favor a particular genre?

I love to read paranormal romance, and erotica. Right now, I'm reading Allison Brennan, If I Should Die, for an interview and column for Night Owl Reviews. I'm also reading A Christmas Wren by BA Tortuga.

If Heart Over Mind were to be made into a movie, who would you chose to play the roles of your main characters?

I could see Jason Statham as my main hero Gabriel, and Megan Fox as my heroine.

What is up next for you?

I'm doing revisions on my new novel, A Woman's Revenge, which is about a revenge demon impregnating cheating men. Things go wrong when secret agents who have arrived to investigate the most recent death are infected. The town doctor, an empath and Healer, finds herself thrown in the middle as she tries to help the two agents heal before the infection kills them as it has the last nine men. When the hormones begin to affect Jaxon Diego, Mandi Thompson finds herself unable to resist his sexual advances.

I'm also working on a new erotica about a company which creates the perfect sexual partner, designed to fulfill the customer's every desire and fantasy, regardless of how off the wall or kinky. It's been a lot of fun to write and I can't wait to see how readers like it.

Fave band / television series / movie?

Widespread Panic, Kings of Leon, Sublime, Lynyrd Skynyrd. I also have favorite singers. Reba, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Jr, and Jamey Johnson. My favorite TV shows are Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, Supernatural, NCIS, and Bones. My favorite movie of all time would be The Notebook, as well as North to Alaska and McClintock, both John Wayne flicks. Anything with Adam Sandler, such as Waterboy, Billy Madison, and Grown Ups are awesome too.

Ideal travel destination?

Anywhere beautiful. I love nature and I'm from the South so I enjoy country roads, the mountains, the beach and crystal clear water. I don't care much for big cities and loud areas.
