I am pleased to be able to participate in the blog tour for Alight by K.C. Neal which is the second book in the Pyxis series.
Alight (Pyxis Series, Book 2)

the second Guardian is, she must find a way to make peace with the last person
in the world she wants to deal with. As she struggles, her nemesis unleashes an
otherworldly evil, and a mysterious illness strikes Corinne's friends.

There, she meets Zane, an Australian guy with a hot accent and a revelation
that binds them together and alters the path of Corinne's life. She throws
herself into fighting for everything she loves, but just as she s certain she
will prevail, she's robbed of the two people she needs most.
K.C.
Neal writes YA books, works in publishing, and is co-founder of Stone House
University, an
educational resource for authors.
Most of K.C.'s days are filled with some combination of writing, reading, gardening, working, and watching stuff on Netflix with her husband and their maltipoo, Oscar. She has an irrational fixation with L.A., and during occasional trips there she pretends her life is more glamorous than it really is ("Entourage" is her guilty pleasure). She likes to surf and hang out on sandy beaches.

My Review: 4 out of 5 stars
Alight: The Peril is the second book in the Pyxis series by K.C. Neal and follows on where Pyxis: The Discovery
left off.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series so I was quite eager to read the sequel, it was wonderful to again be immersed in the magical and intriguing world of the Pyxis.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series so I was quite eager to read the sequel, it was wonderful to again be immersed in the magical and intriguing world of the Pyxis.
Sixteen
year-old Corinne is beginning to embrace her destiny and is
learning more about her purpose within the Pyramidal Union. Her responsibilities and importance are causing her to doubt herself but the strength she shows and the support she has from the other members as well as her aunt help her through.
We are taken on such an emotional roller-coaster in
this book, we learn more about the legacy of the Pyramidal Union, its meaning and objective as
well as each of the members destiny; we also find out who the second guardian was which came as quite the
surprise and Corinne, Angeline and Mason need to learn to accept them as one of their own - a difficult task considering Corinne’s strained
relationship with this person.
I
thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the history, influences and other Pyramidal Unions around the world; there were so many reveals throughout this book and the
biggest help to Corinne seemed to come from Zane who is part of the Pyramidal
Union in Perth, Australia and appears in the hypercosmic ‘dream’ realm.
What
I didn’t like was the rift and the secrets coming between Corinne and Mason (who I adore),
with the introduction of Zane, who is gorgeous, witty, Aussie and has the gift
of foresight; strain was beginning to show in their relationship and it also
appears to be the beginning of a love triangle – I am keen to see how
everything pans out when Zane arrives in Tapestry Lake.
The action in this book is ongoing, especially with
Corrine and the others training to utilize their powers to defeat Harriet and
Quicksilver as well as any other potential threats.
I
was mesmerized by the magical and unique world K.C. Neal has created, it’s fun,
mysterious and the numerous twists and turns kept me entertained and wanting
more.
The plot is evenly paced and flowed well, Ms Neal’s
writing is engaging and entertaining and the characterizations perfect; it was nice to see each of the characters grow throughout the book - especially Corinne who I think is wonderful leader - strong and realistic.
All in all, Alight is a nice addition to the Pyxis series. I am really eager to get my hands on the next
installment to read more about the amazing world Ms. Neal has created.
Thank-you to K.C Neal and BB Book Tours for the
opportunity to read and participate in the Alight blog tour.
