stars
The Mapmakers Union was kindly provided to me by the
author, M.J. Fletcher in exchange for my honest review and is the third book in
The Doorknob Society saga.
I must admit, I was left reeling at the ending of The Impossible Engineers; with the death of a much loved character and Chloe losing her memory thanks to the Forget Me
Not things weren’t looking too rosy but I should have known to trust Mr.
Fletcher and his master storytelling to make things ‘right’ or as right as they
possibly could be.
Chloe Masters isn’t in the best place, she is on a downward
spiral and at a loss; she is feeling betrayed, lonely and understandably
heartbroken so is pushing those closest to her away. She is staying busy by doing secret projects for her father as
well as working with another Polymorph and his crew trying to gain information
on the missing Old Kind artifacts.
The Mapmakers Union is filled with ongoing action, mystery, betrayal and heart break; you can’t help but feel for Chloe and what she has been through and the journey she is yet to embark on. She goes through pain and grief but she is also learning along the way and growing as a character.

The secondary characters played a big part in this story but it
was Edgar who was the real stand-out and I am curious to see the outcome of
what occurred in the next installment. A few characters shocked me – Faith, but
others were a real surprise, especially Val.
The Doorknob Society is a series which definitely gets
better with each book; there are no in-betweens or fillers only improvements
and progressions which I absolutely love.
Fletcher has
crafted an original world in a wonderful setting, memorable and likeable characters,
and a fantasy tale full of intrigue and mystery. His writing is entertaining
and I find myself absolutely glued to the pages once I start.
Thank-you to M.J. Fletcher for providing me with a copy of The Mapmakers Union, I am definitely
eager to read the next book in this wonderful series – The Detective Inspectors which has an anticipated January 2013 release date.
