Author Spotlight:

Shane Morgan is a lover of "interesting" books. Her imagination is always running wild so it's best to collect and organize them into separate stories.

Shane's love for writing started the moment she picked up a Nancy Drew book. At a young age, she began writing short stories, divulging in a variety of genres; from comedy and drama, to horror, and romance. Shane's quite intrigued by the otherworldly or things otherwise deemed "impossible." Well, in her opinion, people never really grow up, do they?

Unresisting is the first book in her new YA series of the same title. Prepare to join Natasha on her journey of self discovery as she learns to control her powers and use them for good, fighting all the bad along the way. Of course we can't have a girl being alone throughout the story, there has to be some romance thrown in there. And Chace will definitely steal the hearts of every female reader.

Excerpt from Chapter one:

A lot changed after my brother died last spring. Dad went on business trips more, and mom buried herself in her writing. My parents were indeed soulmates, good at pretending everything was okay. It was for that very reason I chose not to let them in on my secrets: Sean haunted my dreams at nights, and sometimes my sheets are covered in burn marks when I wake up. I also didn’t protest when they decided to pack up and leave everything. Aside from that, we're moving almost three months into my senior year. I would be the new girl in my final year of high school. And there was nothing worse than having tons of curious eyes pierce my body as if I was completely naked. That would always take me back to the horrible accident, or should I say the night I unwillingly killed my brother.

By the time the police showed up Sean’s body had already turned to ashes. I just waited there on my knees, numb, and unable to believe he was truly gone. It was the kind of pain that made you feel like dying as well. I cried so much that my nose bled and my eyes were scarred.

Everyone kept asking the same stupid questions over and over: about the light, how the car got out of control, and what really happened to Sean. They all stared at me like some drunken, deranged kid. However, I always managed to leave out one important detail; flames were coming from my hands as the light approached us. Sean lost control only after seeing me. He freaked. So, technically speaking, it was my fault we crashed. And maybe, just maybe we’d have gotten away from that stupid light if I hadn’t scared him shitless.

Mom’s screams still linger in my head. She had a breakdown after they told her what happened. Dad never shed a tear, though. He just held on to her tight and looked at me like I should’ve died instead.

The doctors informed my parents I had alcohol in my system and maybe Sean was driving drunk, which wasn’t the case. Sean only tagged along to make sure I got home safely. The only one drinking at that party was me, but I wasn’t drunk enough to see weird stuff. Those idiots couldn’t even find a decent explanation for what really happened to him and why his body mysteriously set ablaze. Their final conclusion was that gasoline must have gotten on his clothes somehow, and maybe he got lit on fire by a sudden spark, somehow. Stupid, but my parents accepted it and so did I, at least so they thought. Still, nothing was the same after that night, and nothing would ever be the same now that Sean was gone.
