Publisher: Entangled Teen
Genre: Young Adult / Sci-Fi

Release date: 1st August 2017

Synopsis: The second book in the Infinity time travel series is full of action, romance, and an intricately designed roller coaster plot.

One mistake can change everything. Ashlyn Calvert finds that out the hard way when a bad decision leads to the death of her best friend, Noah Anderson.

Only Noah isn’t really gone. Thanks to his parents’ company, the Infinity Division, there is a version of him skipping from one dimension to another, set on revenge for the death of his sister, Kori. When a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Ash, he’s determined to resist the magnetic pull he’s felt for her time and time again. Because falling for Ash puts his mission in danger.

But there’s more going on in Ash’s alternate universe than either of them knows: a mysterious project called Omega. A conspiracy spanning multiple Earths and revolving around none other than Ash. Its creators would do anything to keep Omega secret…

Anything.

Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars

I am such a huge fan of Jus Accardo and despite having a few issues with Infinity, the first book in The Infinity Division series I was still quite eager to read the sequel, Omega and see how this creative world would develop.

The first instalment, Infinity followed Kori Anderson and Cade Granger; they make regular appearances throughout this book but it was told in the POV’s of Noah Anderson and Ashlyn ‘Ash’ Calvert who I thought were more interesting narrators.

The time travelling plot was fast paced as we see the characters still following villain Dylan Granger in his quest to kill every Kori in every world they stop at, the trio eventually land in a technology advanced world where the criminals are transported to another dimension.

I adored Ash, she was feisty and fantastic and her back story was quite sad, we didn’t learn much about her in the first book so it was nice to meet her; Noah is stubborn, loyal and an all-round decent guy! I loved his interactions with Ash as well as his friendship with Cade; his relationship with Kori still seemed tense but you can see the growing respect that they have for one another.

We meet a few more characters, Ava/Sera and G and I’m unsure of their purpose as yet and the effect that they will have in the future.

Omega is a nice continuation to the series, and despite the plot not changing much from the first book it was an adventure and entertaining none the less and the world building was more in-depth in this book. It was fast paced, action packed and leaves you wanting more. This book was a big improvement on Infinity for me.

Synopsis (Goodreads)

Nobody said being the daughter of an army general was easy. But when her dad sends a teenage subordinate to babysit her while he’s away… That’s taking it a step too far.

Cade, as beautiful as he is deadly, watches Kori with more than just interest. He looks at her like he knows her very soul. And when he saves her from a seemingly random attack, well, that’s when things get weird.

Turns out, Kori’s dad isn’t just an army general—he’s the head of a secret government project that has invented a way to travel between parallel dimensions. Dimensions where there are infinite Koris, infinite Cades…and apparently, on every other Earth, they’re madly in love.

Falling for a soldier is the last thing on Kori’s mind. Especially when she finds herself in a deadly crossfire, and someone from another Earth is hell-bent on revenge…

Review: 2 out of 5 stars

I am such a huge fan of Jus Accardo, I have loved all of her series to date so I was quite excited to read and review her latest title, Infinity which is the first book in the series, The Infinity Division.

Unfortunately, I didn’t completely love it. It took me a while to get through and just as long to warm up to the main character, she was a bit of a pain and not the most endearing personality that Jus Accardo has written.

Kori is rebellious teenager with an Army general overprotective father. After getting in trouble for a graffiti incident he sends in two soldiers to watch over her whilst he is away but these guys are unlike others that have watched over her previously and she soon discovers secrets about her family life and ends up on the run from someone wanting to kill her.

The storyline about a secret government project was creative but not unique and there is a lot of information yet to find out. Other characters we get to know are Noah, Cade and Dylan and to be honest they were quite bland and I didn’t fully connect with them. As this is the first book in the series I am really hoping things improve in the sequel.

The world building was more tell rather than show, the alternate universe was mentioned but we never quite go there so I am still eager to learn more or see Kori visit. Parallel dimensions have never been a favourite storyline of mine but my hopes were high.

We also have the villain of the book and this guy is missing more than a few screws! His purpose was all about revenge and the lengths he took were pretty crazy.

Another thing I couldn’t connect with was the romance, it felt like too much too soon and I honestly couldn’t see how it would work out so this is something else I’m eager to see further explored.

I couldn’t fault Jus Accardo’s writing style but the pacing was slow and a few scenes were over dramatized. It pains me to give this book a low rating but I do want to give this series a go as it does have potential.

Review: A Darker Past (The Darker Agency #2) by Jus Accardo

A Darker Past (The Darker Agency, #2)A Darker Past

Author: Jus Accardo
Series: Darker Agency #2
Pages: 315
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Release date: 11th November 2014

Synopsis: (Goodreads)

The past is Darker than they thought...

Between helping her mother with the Darker Agency and laying the smack down on monster baddies, Jessie Darker puts the “normal” in paranormal. But lately, things have gotten a little crazy...even for a smart-assed half-demon teenage girl.

For starters, Jessie’s been contracted into fifty-five years of annoying servitude. To a demon. Then there’s Lukas Scott, her sexy new boyfriend. Once the former incarnation of Wrath, he’s been going through some...uh, changes. Like residual anger. And trading chaste hangouts for lusty make-out sessions.

But it’s when Lukas and Jessie accidentally release a Very Nasty Demon that things get really bad, setting into motion a chain of death and mayhem that threatens both Earth and the Shadow Realm. Jessie has exactly four days to fix it...before all of Hell breaks loose.

Review: 4 out of 5 stars

Possible spoilers from the first book

I am a huge Jus Accardo fan and would probably read her shopping list, she is an auto-buy for me. The ending of the first book, Darker Days ended in quite an interesting place so I was more than a little eager to read A Darker Past.

Seventeen year-old Jessie Darker now has a fifty-five year service to be paid to Valefar, a Demon who is able to summon her at will much to her annoyance. Jessie still works for her mother at the Darker Agency, where they are hired to do jobs not of the norm, usually dealing with zombies, ghosts etc.

Jessie is a great character, full of laughs and snark, she has some perfect one-liners that had me giggling on numerous occasions, she is now dating Lukas Scott who we see go through a noticeable change throughout the course of the book as he adjusts to being a demon.

Both characters are amazing! I enjoy their interactions, the sweet moments as well as the intense; they work really well together. I still enjoy Lukas’s reactions to her comments, he’s an old fashioned guy still learning about modern day sayings.

The storyline in A Darker Past sees Jessie and Lukas accidentally dropping a mirror which held a powerful, malevolent demon; they now have a short time restraint to find and trap the demon before it destroys the witch coven which Jessie’s best friend Kendra is a part of. The premise for in A Darker Past is creative and entertaining, we learn a lot more about the Darker and Belfair families; there were a number of surprising twists I didn’t expect but enjoyed.

Jus Accardo’s writing is detailed and always entertaining; the storyline is creative and I think there is a lot more going on than what we currently know, I’m waiting for the secrets to be unravelled because I’m sure they’re there. Jessie’s relationship with her mother Klaire is wonderful and I enjoyed seeing her demon father play a bigger role.

Thank you to Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read and review A Darker Past. No date has been released as yet for the third book but I can’t wait to get hold of it!

Review: 4 ½ out of 5 stars

I’m a huge Jus Accardo fan so the moment I saw Rules of Survival on Netgalley it was an auto click! I devoured this book from the moment it arrived on my kindle, I loved the thrill ride we were taken on, the amazing characters and wonderful romance; it was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down.

Eighteen year-old, Mikayla Morgan has been on the run for over a year, wanted for her con-artist mother’s murder and also by relentless bounty hunters it was go go go right from the beginning.

When Mikayla makes a big blunder by returning to the scene of the crime she ends up snagged by someone her mother had worked with in the past and Shaun Denver, his young partner in training. Shaun was fabulous from his first scene, I adored him and his interactions with Mikayla; he didn’t just hand her over but came to trust what she knew and her reactions. Mikayla was also pretty amazing, she knew how to take care of herself and was always one step ahead of everyone else, she wasn’t without her faults but she was extremely likeable. All of the secondary characters play a pivotal role in the overall story; some were nice enough but others you wouldn’t want to know.

The plot moved at a steady pace, I enjoyed the overall mystery and was keen to know who was after Mikayla and the reasoning behind it all and although some parts I found to be predictable it was entertaining getting to the big reveal. There were some twists I wasn’t expecting and the action sequences were done well and kept me flipping the pages wanting to know more.

Rules of Survival was a non-stop thrill ride filled with intrigue, suspense, romance and amazing characters that oozed chemistry; Jus Accardo never fails to entertain with her wonderful writing and witty dialogue, she’s definitely an auto-buy author for me.

Highly recommended for fans of Jus Accardo and of light-hearted romantic suspense.

Review: 4 out of 5 stars

I am a huge fan of Jus Accardo’s Denazen and The Darker Days series so I have been really anxious to get a hold of Ruined, the first book in her The Eternal Balance series.

Ruined started off a little on the slow side but as soon as things started to be revealed about the demons and the action began it became a lot more entertaining and held my interest.

The premise for Ruined is extremely interesting and one I haven't read before - Jax and his brother Chase are descended from Cain and Abel; at the beginning we learn that Jax is the unfortunate one who is afflicted with a demon curse that feeds off violence in exchange for his contentment, he especially struggles to be in the same room as his brother so has spent quite some time away from his hometown and the only girl he ever had feelings for.

Jax and Samantha have known each other since they were children, both leaving town for differing reasons they are now reunited but things have certainly changed; Jax is easily angered with a big attitude and at times he was a complete ass towards her but she remained loyal and stood by him. His plans were to make a quick exit from town but when Sammy is targeted and almost killed he is determined to find out whom or what wants her dead.

As far as book boyfriends go it was hard not to fall for Kale from Jus Accardo’s Denazen series but Jax certainly gives him a run for his money but in a completely different way, they are total opposites – personality, mannerisms, attitude etc. which I loved, it showed as an author her knack for writing amazing male heroes who are still loveable despite their flaws.

I couldn’t fault the main characters! They were well-thought out and their romance was built on a long lasting friendship which developed to more and was heartbreakingly sweet but also complex; Sammy seemed fearless, I loved her sarcasm and wit as well as her loyalty and determination. I was intrigued by Jax and the demon Azirak inside of him; life wasn’t easy, he was a tortured soul and struggled constantly to maintain his cool but they complimented each other well.

We don’t get to know all that many secondary characters in Ruined, I was intrigued by Heckle and completely shocked by the villain, they definitely weren’t who I was expecting so this twist was quite the surprise and I’m eager to see how it will all play out in the next installment.

There were so many things I was curious about as I was reading along and with it being about demons it kept me all that little bit more entertained, they are always portrayed as being badass evil so for one to inhabit a human body with feelings was interesting, I was hoping there would be a way for Jax to rid himself of the demon and my fingers for this are still tightly crossed.

Jus Accardo’s writing flows beautiful and the concept for Ruined is really unique. With fabulous characters and the promise of exciting things to come, I am eager to read the next book in The Eternal Balance series.

Overall, Ruined is filled with action, betrayal, violence and a nice romance and despite not finding this to be as solid as Jus Accardo’s previous books, it was still a great start to what I think will be a wonderful series.
