Synopsis (Goodreads)

New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

Lizzie Davenport is a junior in high school and has been in a long-term relationship with the newly appointed co-captain of the football team, Jeremy Williams. They have been together for a number of years but after summer break the differences between them are starting to become apparent.

When Drew Carmichael moves to town, there is an instant connection between him and Lizzie but he continues to push her away and treat her badly he then begins to date her best friend Chelsea Givens all the while giving Lizzie mixed signals with sidelong glances and helping her with her French studies etc.

Persistent Lizzie never gave up though and starts to question unusual memories of her and Drew from the Regency Era, England. There is a pull between them that she can’t ignore and all she wants to know is why she feels she knows him from another time.

When it is soon revealed they were a couple in a past life, now reincarnated I was fascinated by this storyline and was eager to know more about their previous life together, it is a wonderfully woven and complex love story that kept me turning the pages to find out more.

The story flowed well, I enjoyed the tangled, complicated love story Ms Madow has created and felt for each of the characters and the predicament they were in.

The scenes between Drew and Lizzie are wonderfully romantic; especially the dance they share when there is a flashback of their shared past, this is when I felt they were truly meant to be together despite all of the obstacles in their way.

I enjoyed the main characters but felt the way in which Lizzie was treated by Jeremy and Chelsea was terrible, they walked over her and she seemed to let them; Drew initially wasn’t any better but his reasoning made more sense – he was trying to push her away. I enjoyed the inclusion of Alistair from the mask store and how he subtly tried to give hints to Lizzie; I also liked the Pride and Prejudice references, I thought it was a nice touch.

Remembrance is a beautiful love story with a unique and original spin on reincarnation and I really liked Ms Madow’s writing style and enjoyable dialogue.

The only small complaint I have was why Drew & Lizzie felt the need to immediately announce their relationship, I wish they had of allowed their respective break-ups to settle a while before being together taking into consideration who they were hurting; I was hoping there would be a friendship mend between Chelsea and Lizzie considering their history.

All in all, I really enjoyed Remembrance and I look forward to reading more books written by this wonderful author.
