Question: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming
up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name
you’ve come across?.
** Renesmee from Stephenie Meyers Twilight saga (not a fan of this name at all)
** Katniss From Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games Trilogy
** Dank from Abbi Glines Existence Trilogy. (also not a fan of this name at all but love the character)
** Etienne and Cricket from Stephanie Perkins 'Anna & the French Kiss' & 'Lola & the Boy Next Door'
** Karou from Laini Taylor's The Daughter of Smoke and Bone
There are a few names that come to mind and definitely what I find unique and unusual (not necessarily in a bad way).

I love Karou's name too! thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteKarou isn't that unique of a name, is it? It's a popular Japanese name but I guess for us North American readers it would be unique. :P
ReplyDeleteDank is a real unique name. I'm not sure if I'd like a name like that. Reminds of the word stank, haha.
Hi.. A new follower from Feature & Follow! I like Katniss very much too. But, I have different choices. Here is my Feature & Follow. I would love, if you could follow my blog.

ReplyDeleteGreat post and good list of unusual but unique names. Although I really have to be honest and say that I hate the name Renesmee but that's just me. Lol.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend. :)

If you didn't list that you are not a fan, does that mean you are a fan of the other names?

New follower :) I mentioned Katniss as well: http://bookprowl.blogspot.com/2012/02/follow-friday-2.html
ReplyDeleteGood pick on your names. I didn't even think about Katniss or Karou when posting my FF. However, unique names keep jumping in to my head now, after the fact. Like Sirantha Jax from Ann Aguirre's series with the same name ;-)

ReplyDeleteHappy reading and thanks for stopping by :)
As usual, I am still playing catch up on Saturday. Friday was only enough time to do the twitter and FB follow, and set up the linky on my blog. Sigh! I'm so slow.
ReplyDeleteI'm learning a lot hearing the names people are choosing. So far Renesmee, Katniss, Etienne and Karou are the one's I'm hearing the most. I finally chose a good name from my reading, but you'll have to visit me to find out what it is. http://steepedinbooks.blogspot.com I'm a new follower, just dropping by to say Happy Friday (and Saturday) follow.
Can't wait for the article 5 review. :) New follower, at kristinaaziz.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi, I've never been a massive fan of Renesme but I can't deny that it is unique.
