Feature & Follow Friday (29th December)

Hi everyone!!

Thank-you so much for stopping by..

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee & Alison Can Read

This weeks featured blogs: The Book Asylum and Bookworms Avenue

Question: What book do you think everyone should read? If you could gift the entire population with one book?

I would choose The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay which I read recently and adored! The characters, storyline and writing was amazing.

The Sea of Tranquility

If I could cheat and choose a whole series it would be the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, I LOVE these books and think they are an absolute must read.

Hi everyone!!

Question: What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Please explain in graphic detail of goriness.

I’ll have to go with Anna Dressed in Blood/Girl of Nightmares. I’m not a fan of blood, gore and horror in movies (it terrifies me) and this one was eerie and scary enough to read about for me.

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1)  Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2)

Hi everyone!!

Thank-you so much for stopping by..

This weeks featured blogs: Book Liaison and Angela’s Anxious Life

Question: What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Is it to one day become an author yourself, just for fun, maybe get some online attention, or maybe something very different?

My blog is definitely only for fun, it’s my hobby and a way for me to keep track of the books I have read and enjoyed. I started doing this initially on Goodreads but having my own place to ramble and express my thoughts seemed to suit me better. It also gives me more interaction with other book lovers.

For me, it was Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer – I admit to being a BIG Twilight fan when it was first released, I really loved Twilight, only liked New Moon, Eclipse was alright but Breaking Dawn left me gaping.

I am reading two books at the moment; The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa which is absolutely amazing! I loved the Iron Fey series and this is a great addition.

Also, What a Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn which is such a fun light-hearted and cute read; I’m really enjoying it.

Q: Best Cover? What is the best cover of a book that you’ve read and loved?

There are so many amazing books with covers I have loved!

Most recently, it was definitely Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake, I loved the first cover as well – Anna Dressed in Blood; they are both eerie and they suit the books perfectly.

Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you’ve read and loved?

This is a hard question :) It’s so much easier to find a cover which I loved.

The first book which came to mind was The Other Life by Susanne Winnacker, It’s not that the cover is overly terrible, but it just doesn't convey the theme of the book = zombies and is a tad bland.

Question: What blogger inspires you? It can be any kind; it doesn’t have to be a book blog.

This was a really tough question because so many book bloggers inspire me and I look to different blogs for different reasons – reviews, hints & tips etc. but the first few to instantly pop to mind were:

Giselle from Xpresso Reads and (One of the first blogs I discovered)
Vegan YA Nerds (who I have only recently discovered)

These are the ladies/blogs I ‘stalk’ daily for book recommendations, advice (thanks Kimba for your latest post) and well-written, thought out reviews – it also helps that the opinions I seem to have on most books mesh with their views as well.

My fave author blog would be Jennifer L. Armentrout, I love the way she truly connects with her fans.

Question: What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?

There are a few small-ish things I would change; definitely more networking with other bloggers. I would have selected a different template (I love the one I have but it's a bit too cutesie now). I would have paced my reviews more evenly instead of right on top of one another and a different selection of books - I rushed in gun ho and was all over the place! But I have learnt a lot in the 1 1/2 years I have been blogging and I'm quite content with how things are going.

Question: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

I think so, yes, I love to read no matter what but find if I am moody or feeling down it generally affects the way I feel about a book so I tend to go for something more upbeat like a contemporary, fun romance – or anything with a bit of humor or action.

I am in a bit of a reading funk at the moment and trying to work out what to pick up next is tough!

Hi everyone!!

Thank-you for stopping by..

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee & Alison Can Read

This weeks featured blogs: Books are my Reality and Concise Book Reviews

Question: Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

The only book I remember having to read at school was Playing Beatie Bow which is an Australian children's book written by author Ruth Park.

Blurb: Abigail Kirk finds herself transported back to the late nineteenth century and becomes embroiled in the family life of the Bows. The Bows will not let her return home believing that she is "the stranger" who will preserve the family gift.

The story is set in Sydney, Australia and is about a girl named Abigail (formerly Lynette) who travels back in time to colonial Sydney-Town in the year 1873, where she meets Beatie Bow, a girl whose name has become part of Abigail's local folklore.
