Feature & Follow Friday (13th April)

Weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee & Alison Can Read

This weeks featured blogs: Gizmo’s Reviews and Book Briefs

Question: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Hmm, a hard question because I am not a fan of movie adaptations of books at all (although I have heard The Hunger Games is brilliant).

If I had to chose, it would be one of my favorite series – Fever (Karen Marie Moning), Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead), Lux or Covenant (J.L Armentrout); I have the cast of characters already in my mind so seeing anyone else play these roles would be a tad disappointing.

I don’t think movies compare to the books.

  1. Everyone says Karen Moning books are awesome. I've yet to pick up this series. I should go check it out. I haven't read anything by J.L. Armentrout either. And I think I'm the only one on the planet who didn't really love it. lol.

  2. I agree - I hate it when castings don't match up with my mental representations! I also agree with Vampire Academy - it'd have to be done really well!

  3. I agree with you. And just my favorite books should not be on the big screen. I think it would never be the same.

  4. Yessss, The Fever series is a really good answer. But if they pulled it off, the movies would be awesome. Thanks for stopping by.

  6. Hi! I'm a new follower hopping by!

Lovely answer! (I also answered the Fever series) I think as long as the author has a voice and participates in the decisions needed for the movie, the movie will turn out fine.

  7. I'm really not a fan of them either. Books should stay in the imagination where they belong!

  10. I think that the Lux series would be great on the big screen - but do understand when you have your cast in your head and how it might not match up!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  12. It's always so hard to see favorite books made into movies, because there's no way they can properly translate it!

    Thanks for stopping in!

  14. Nice choices. I was just hearing about the Hunger Games from my girlfriends last night and they loved both the movie and the books. Sounds like they did a pretty good job with that one!

  19. Oh, Vampire Academy! Finger crossed they can find actress to play our kickass heroine Rose! I hope anyone who plays Dimitri or Adrian can capture their awesomeness too! :)

  20. Great answer! Yeah, I think the hardest part is when they pick the cast. If the actors don't really get those characters right then it kinda sucks. I seriously can't imagine anyone playing Daemon Black other than the cover model himself. His image has just been branded into my brain and I will not accept anything less.

  21. Hi there :) just hopping through. Having a book we love become a movie is always scary! They rarely capture the essence that a book has. Also thanks for the visit.

  23. Fever would be a good one to be turned into a movie. I would find it to be a darker movie though!
