Fall Guy

Pages: eBook 291
Genre: NA
Publisher: Self
Amazon: Fall Guy

Synopsis. (Goodreads)

Evan Lennox is going nowhere fast. She's living with her grandparents after her parents bailed on her, she got kicked out of her posh private school, her ex-boyfriend proved to be the biggest sleaze imaginable, her former best friend is a back-stabber, and her current best friend is stuck in backwoods NJ. To top it all off, one teeny, tiny fire she lit to burn some memories of her ex goes a little out of control and winds up igniting a good piece of a very powerful family's pecan orchard.

Evan lands her pampered behind in court and gets sentenced to community service. Which she knows she deserves. But the hard labor and humiliation may be her undoing.

Until she meets Winchester Youngblood on the site.

Everything about him is tricky, confusing, not at all what it seems, and so sexy, Evan can't resist pulling closer. But every step she takes to get to know him gives her more of a reason to back up and put him as far out of life as she possibly can. Because Winch is one hundred percent complicated, and Evan isn't looking for that. At all. She needs to meet a nice, responsible guy, not share searing kisses with the charming hustler she met after they both got sentenced in court.

But Winch is so much more than what he seems, and Evan finds out that she's falling hard for the guy everyone underestimates and writes off. And Winch realizes that Evan is the one person who's ever challenged him to ask for more out of his life, and her courage inspires him to try to be the person she sees when she looks at him. With every single odd stacked against them, Evan and Winch need to find out whether they have what it takes to fall for each other.

Review: 4 out of 5 stars

I have adored everything I have read to date by the wonderfully talented Liz Reinhardt and Fall Guy was no exception.

When Evan Lennox lands in court for burning down an orchard whilst trying to dispose of the memories of an ex, she didn’t expect to meet gorgeous, complicated Winchester Youngblood at her court hearing.

Evan’s life is in turmoil, she is living with her grandparents after her parents bailed, she got kicked out of school and her ex-boyfriend proved to be the biggest sleaze imaginable and to top it off her weekends will now be spent doing community service, with Winch who twists her in knots and has her fumbling.

Winch is a bad boy with big secrets and a complex family situation, he is the family fall guy which wasn’t a good thing when it came to the relationship he was beginning with Evan, the romance and boundaries were pushed to the limits with these two and to be honest I didn’t think there could possibly be a HEA without causing a HUGE family rift.

Evan and Winch were drawn to each other like moths to a flame, they knew they shouldn’t be together but their attraction and the pull they had was undeniable, the main obstacle between them was Winch’s older, troubled brother Remy as well as his obsessive family life and the role and obligations he held within it, Evan doesn’t belong in the world in which he lives which is filled with secrets, drama and danger – there were so many miscommunications between them that my head was spinning.

The story is told from both Winch and Evan’s POV’s which I always enjoy as we get great insight into their thoughts and the reasoning behind their behavior. Although I didn’t agree with their actions at times, knowing why made it all the more believable. They both had very real issues and the way in which they complemented one another was written well.

If you are after a drama-filled, intense, smexy and angst ridden read then Fall Guy is perfect! Liz’s writing is always amazing and detailed and the romance and chemistry scorching hot.

If you haven’t read anything by Liz Reinhardt, I certainly recommend everything she has written to date.

Thank-you kindly to author, Liz Reinhardt for providing me with a copy of Fall Guy in exchange for my honest opinion.

REVIEW: 4 ½ out of 5 stars

Inherit was kindly provided to me by the wonderful Liz Reinhardt in exchange for my honest opinion.

I absolutely adore Liz and her Brenna Blixen series so I was quite excited by the release of Inherit, the cover and synopsis instantly captured my attention, the concept is unlike any I have read previously and I found it utterly enthralling, I couldn’t put this book down.

When Wren Kochi receives a mysterious package containing a live fox from relatives she has never met in Japan, she is instantly wary especially when things she has yearned for miraculously begin to appear.

Jonas Balto is Wren’s long-time crush but after a misunderstanding they have barely acknowledged one another but he appears to know a lot more about her than what she could have imagined and has an understanding about what she is going through.

Wren was practically raised by her now ailing grandmother, I adored her affections and love for Bestemore even though at times she was a tad too overprotective – she also had average teen problems; friendship, money, boy and family dramas which have made her life somewhat of a struggle but things are changing and she is starting to understand the secrets of her ancestors, the powers she was born to command and also the link she shares with Jonas and his family.

Wren soon discovers her mother was descended from the Valkyrie/Shieldmaidens and her father from an ancient coven of witches. I found Liz’s explanation of both to be quite detailed yet it was nothing too confusing.

The romance was done really well, no insta-love thank goodness! I initially thought Jonas was too understanding and taking everything that was happening too easily in his stride and without question but I soon understood why and how they were connected. Following their journey is going to be exciting, the only thing which bugged me was the constant back and forth and indecision between them.

Liz did a great job on developing the secondary characters, I loved the relationship Wren had with her best friend Neveah, her opinion about Vee’s boyfriend was realistically portrayed, cousin Sakura was vindictive, jealous and just plain horrible but my most favorite was grandma Bestemore.

Ms. Reinhardt has certainly written something completely unique to me, I was fascinated by the concept of her fox Loki being her telepathic fox familiar; she was clueless about her ancestors and I enjoyed learning about it all as she was.

You cannot fault Liz’s amazing writing abilities, the dialogue between her characters is fun and witty and the plot utterly engrossing. I loved this book and I’m really excited to read the next installment.

REVIEW: Slow Twitch (Brenna Blixen #3) by Liz Reinhardt

Author: Liz Reinhardt
Series: Brenna Blixen
Pages: eBook
Genre: Young Adult (Mature themes)
Amazon: Slow Twitch

Synopsis (Goodreads)

Summer scatters three friends, ties them back together, and makes them question who they have been and who they want to be in the future.

Brenna expected to soak up the knowledge of great Irish writers at her summer workshop in Dublin. But there are some things even the best books can't teach you, and a passionate new friend and an old familiar full of surprises challenge Brenna to follow her heart. By the time she's back in the States, she can't wait to throw herself back into Jake's arms and tell him exactly what he means to her.

She puts the brakes on that plan when it becomes clear that Jake may not be ready to shoulder any more. He visits his family's palatial home in the mountains of New York, and is exposed to all the possibilities a life surrounded by his pampered relatives and washed in money would hold for him. But is it possible to accept so much and not change who you are? Jake has to face the reality that changing sometimes means losing things...but how much is he willing to put on the line?

Saxon has been thrust into a life of drudgery and indentured service he never dreamed of after a brush with the law puts him on family-enforced probation. Who would have thought Sussex County's resident bad-ass layabout would fall head-over-heels in love with a girl, an elderly aunt, and a shot at a whole new life. The problem is, he's a Maclean to his marrow, and it's in his blood to be a selfish screw-up. Isn't it?

Brenna, Jake, and Saxon spend one summer growing up, working things out, and doing their best to weather the changes that get thrown their way. But can the love and friendships of one amazing summer last through the ups and downs of the coming years?

Slow Twitch is book number three in the Brenna Blixen series. Book one is Double Clutch, and book two is Junk Miles. All books in this series are YA Mature. Slow Twitch contains sex, drug references, alcohol consumption, and swearing. It is intended for mature or older readers.

REVIEW: 5 out of 5 stars

Wowza!! The Brenna Blixen series isn’t one I ever expected to love because I am so anti love-triangles and it focuses on three teens thrown together and Brenna’s love for two boys who happen to be brothers.

In Slow Twitch we see Brenna spending her summer at a writers workshop in Ireland, Saxon on family-enforced probation and Jake getting to know the wealthy Mclean side of his family, namely his father who abandoned him and Saxon as children.

A lot happens in this book, relationships progress, decisions are made and mistakes occur, it portrays the teens realistically and in a believable way that isn’t all love and roses. Ms Reinhardt has weaved a story that will leave you laughing, crying, angry and happy all within a few pages, I love the varying emotions evoked and how they are handled; her writing is flawless and the plot thoroughly entertaining.

The main characters are each fleshed out perfectly; I adore Brenna who is intelligent, compassionate, witty and switched on; she really knows what she wants in life which I think is wonderful. Saxon really matures in this book and at times I didn’t know whether I liked this side of him, I love his wild ways, his quick wit, charm and sarcasm but we really see some big changes from him in Slow Twitch and Jake was amazing! What a sweetheart he is; I loved seeing his relationship progress with Brenna and the positives coming his way academically.

We also meet a few new characters, Evan (female) who reminded me so much of Saxon with her wild and carefree ways. I would love to see a spin-off about her. We also meet Cadence who is Saxon’s new love interest, I resented her initially because she wasn’t Brenna but I eventually warmed to the idea of her being with and taming Saxon.

Liz Reinhardt’s writing is absolute brilliance; the dialogue is amazing and the details she provided vivid. Slow Twitch is also told from each of the main characters POV’s which I loved. I can’t recommend this series enough; there is romance, drama and ongoing conflict that keep you turning the pages.

Slow Twitch is definitely for the older teen as it contains sex, language and drug and alcohol references.

I have my fingers tightly crossed there will be another book in this series – I need more.
