Synopsis. (Goodreads)
Some
things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

Review: 5 out of 5 stars
Wait for You is the first book in the Wait for
You series by J. Lynn (AKA Jenifer L. Armentrout) and was kindly provided
to me by the wonderful Val at Stuck in Books for the blog tour.
Wait for You is definitely amongst my favourites in the New Adult genre, not because
it is unique or fresh but because the characters, secondary included bring the
amazing story to life. I was captured by the beautifully uplifting story of
hope, love and redemption; it was a tale which filled me with joy as I read
the witty dialogue, sorrow as I felt the characters past pains and hope for a
HEA.
Avery Morgansten
has spent the past five years living as a shadow of her former popular self
after a horrible incident which occurred at a Halloween party when she was just
fourteen years old, she blends in but doesn’t like to be noticed and as a way
to move forward she has left her hometown of Texas to study in West Virginia.
Avery was a really sweet MC but wasn't without her faults, I absolutely adored her strength despite her hidden pain, I really felt she grew as a character from the onset; she was stubborn and reluctant to let anyone close but this wasn't without reason, I thought she was written in a way that was believable and made her all the more likeable.
When she meets gorgeous Cameron ‘Cam’ Hamilton by literally plowing him down
in the halls, the safe and secluded world she has created begins
to sway in a way she never thought possible.
If I could
write this whole review about our main male lead, Cam then I certainly would, I
haven’t read about a character that I loved
and felt for as much as I did for him
in a very long while. He is a persistent, smexy, blue eyed six foot three god
who oozed charm, charisma and a sense of humour that had me giggling; he was confident,
cocky and protective in a way that was unbelievably sweet but he also had a
secret of his own that I was more than eager to learn about – he honestly stole
my heart.
Not a lot actually
happens in terms of the events initially, its more or less a game of cat and mouse
between Avery and Cam with his persistence and her reluctance due to her past and the secret she keeps to herself but it was a fun
and exciting game to watch as they exchanged banter, playfully insulted one
another and their friendship really grew despite what they didn't know about one another, they appear as complete opposites but
they compliment each other beautifully, the chemistry between them was off the
charts.
The secondary
characters were each amazing and all played an important part in this story,
Avery’s friends Jacob and Brit were classics; I adored Cam’s wonderful family
and friends Ollie and Jase, these relationships really showed the importance and value of
not only friendships but also family.
JLA’s storytelling and beautiful writing is
flawless, I was bombarded with a plethora of emotions as I was reading along,
and I must admit I was tempted on numerous occasions to glimpse the end just to
find out what had happened to Avery and if there was actually hope for Cam and
their budding relationship. There were a number of miscommunications and trust
issues but I felt they got through them well and the slow progression of their
relationship made it all the more believable and enjoyable.
Overall, JLA can do no wrong; I have loved
everything written by her to date and Cam certainly stands out amongst the
smexy male leads she has written so far. With sensitive subject matter that has
been offset with humour that smatters the pages, it is a story which left me mesmerized
and needing so much more, I cannot
recommend this book highly enough.
These characters hold a dear place in my heart
and I am so pleased to see there will be a sequel, Be with Me which I am hoping will be about Jase and Cam’s sister Teresa.
