Synopsis (Goodreads)
Nevada Baylor is faced with the most
challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a
suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is
a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on
fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world

Review: 5 out of 5 stars
As a huge fan of the Kate
Daniels series I was eager to start on Burn
for Me, the first book in Ilona Andrews new Hidden Legacy series and I am so pleased to say
it didn’t fail to disappoint, it is probably my favourite read of 2014.
Our MC is Private
Investigator Nevada Baylor would do anything and everything for her family
which she did when she agreed to take on a job from a company who held her home
and business over her head in order to return a powerful Prime to his family
unharmed.
The class system in Burn for Me is based on one’s magical
ability, Nevada believes she is at the bottom end and can tell if someone is
lying or not; she is dealing with the big boys now in her search for Adam
Pierce but also wanting her help for his own reasons is Connor “Mad” Rogan who was a bit of a brute at the beginning of the book
with his treatment of Nevada but I ended up loving him.
The
characters were great with the exception of a few suspicious ones and they all
played an important role in the overall story. Billionaire Mad Rogan with his
arrogance and forcefulness can level a building with a mere thought; I couldn’t
wait to learn more about him and his past. I loved the way Nevada’s family all
worked together, her mum and grandmother were forces to be reckoned with! They
were great and the villain was written to perfection.
The world-building
is strong and detailed and the multi-layered plot was fast-paced and entertaining,
the dangers, action sequences and destruction was believable and you could feel
the overall threat. Plenty of questions were raised but a satisfying answer was
always received. There was also enough sexual tension and fun witty banter to
balance it all out perfectly.
I
cannot fault this husband/wife teams writing capabilities at all; I was held
mesmerised from the very first page and real-life was put on hold just so I
could finish it. I enjoyed the natural
feel of the dialogue between the characters and the realistic ease of their
interactions. I certainly had a hard time putting this book down.
Overall, I
enjoyed the premise of this story and the intimidating world the author
created. I loved the character development; Nevada was well written and I liked
how maturely she handled a situation she was more or less forced into. I can’t
wait to get hold of the next book in the series.
Thank you to
Avon via Edelweiss for the opportunity to read and review Burn for Me.

I have a few of these books (different series) on my TBR. I hear such good things. I didn't know they were a husband-wife writing duo until a few weeks ago.
